Linton Music Festival Kicks Off Friday

(LINTON) - Linton Music Festival organizers are excited about this year’s lineup. Node 1 Technology, will kick off Friday at 6 p.m. with metal band ICON.

The free three-day event will feature 30 bands on two stages -- the Linton Family Pharmacy Main Stage and the Greene County General Hospital Stage -- in Linton's Humphreys Park.

The festival will feature a mixture of local acts, as well as regional and "up-and-coming" artists. The lineup will include genres from classic country to hard rock, and the lineup will allow for a smooth transition between genres.

Some of the returning local favorites include King McQueen Friday night at 8 p.m.; US 231 Saturday at noon; Wikker Elefant Sunday at 3:30 p.m.; and The Roosters Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

They are excited about the Saturday night set from A Lion Named Roar. Returning band No More Kings turned organizers onto the band, which is making their way into the music scene.

The event will be adding some activities for the younger children as well. McDonald's will be sponsoring a kids play area, with bounce houses. The cost will be $5 for the whole day.

Greene County General Hospital will be sponsoring the "Greene County Health Family Day" from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Greene County General Hospital Marketing Coordinator Halea Franklin said there will be several activities for children, including an obstacle course, hula hoop contest and three-legged races.

Saturday will also feature the Silly Safari at 1:30 p.m. and Kid Kazooey, a children's music deejay, at 4:30 p.m., both in the East Shelter House in the park.

There will be a 5K Run/Walk Saturday at 5 p.m. to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer. For more information or to register, visit www.lintonmusicfest.com.

The festival will once again end with a fireworks display, sponsored by Stoll's Country Inn of Linton.

While the festival continues to be a free event, organizers are requesting a donation for parking.
