Greene Co. SWCD Requesting Old And New Photos Of Local Farms

Last updated on Thursday, August 22, 2013

(BLOOMFIELD) - The Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is asking local farmers for photos of their land - both old and new.

Sabrina Westfall, of the Greene County Daily World reports, SWCD District Coordinator Deborah Lynn says the theme for the 2013 annual meeting will be "Look Where We Came From -- Look Where We Can Go".

The meeting is scheduled for the end February 2014, but Lynn says this is a good time to start gathering the photos.

Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) District Conservationist Tammy Swihart came up with the idea after securing State Conservationist Jane Hardisty, from Solsberry, as the guest speaker for the event.

Lynn says over the years the way Greene County farmers have drastically changed the way they manage their land, crops and livestock. Lynn says today there is more technology and farmers have to be smart to be successful.

The photos will be on display at the annual meeting for everyone to see the comparison of old and new.

Send photos via email to deborah.lynn@in.nacdnet.net or mail them to Greene County SWCD, 104 CR 70E Suite B, Bloomfield, Ind. 47424.

Images can also be dropped off at the Soil and Water Conservation District Office.
