(SALEM) - A former candidate for Washington County Council and Delaney Park Board member who was arrested on drug charges last fall has entered a plea agreement.
The Leader Democrat reports, 37-year-old Eric Worley, of Campbellsburg, entered a blind plea and pled guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.
He was sentenced by special Judge Roger Davis in Washington Superior Court to 365 days in jail with 245 suspended on both charges, to be served concurrently in the Washington County Detention Center. That means, if he earns good time credit, he could be released after two months. Following his release, Worley will be on probation a year and a half.
Worley was arrested in October, weeks before the fall General Election. He was one of three Republicans seeking the three at-large seats. Two Democrats were also in the race. Worley came in last with 3,564 votes. Worley was arrested Oct. 7 after crashing his vehicle as he attempted to leave Delaney Park. He tested positive for prescription drugs and also had marijuana in his possession.
Worley had served on the park board since early 2011. He resigned at the request of Circuit Judge Larry Medlock, who appointed him.
