Crash Leaves One Dead Another Hospitalized

Last updated on Thursday, August 29, 2013

(BROWNSTOWN) - Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a wreck that left a local man dead and his wife hospitalized.

Sheriff Mike Carothers said the driver of a motorcycle was killed in the crash, reported at 10:12 p.m. Wednesday about a mile south of Brownstown on State Road 135.

The driver's wife was injured and flown to University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky for treatment, Coroner Roger Wheeler said Thursday.

Authorities were withholding their names until family are notified of the death, Carothers said.

It appears that the motorcycle struck a tree limb that had fallen onto State Road 135, Carothers said.

The wreck remains under investigation by Officer Adam Nicholson and Detective Bob Lucas.
