City of Bloomington Accepting Applications for 2014 Community Development Block Grants

(BLOOMINGTON) - Mayor Mark Kruzan has announced that applications for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program are now available to agencies for the 2014 Program Year.

CDBG funding is federal community development assistance dollars provided annually to the City by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Applications can be picked up in Housing and Neighborhood Dev, 401 N. Morton Street, Suite 130, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., or downloaded online at bloomington.in.gov/cdbgapp.

Local CDBG funded programs administered by the Housing and Neighborhood Development Department are divided into two categories: physical improvements and social services.

Organizations applying for a CDBG funds must serve city residents whose household income is less than 80% of the area median income.

Organizations interested in submitting proposals for CDBG funding must first submit a "Letter of Intent" to the Housing and Neighborhood Development Department by October 4, 2013.

An informational meeting for potential applicants will be held on Wednesday September 4 at 9 a.m., in the McCloskey Room of City Hall at 401 N Morton Street.
