Last updated on Friday, August 2, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - 29-year old Casey Jo Owen, of Bloomington, was arrested Tuesday night after Bloomington Police were called by Kohl’s loss prevention officers who reported they had a shoplifter in custody.

Owen was caught with $100 worth of jewelry and clothing. When police arrived Owen told them her children ages, 3, 10 and 11 were in her car with the doors locked and the window cracked. The children had been in the vehicle for more than 20 minutes.

Bloomington Police Lt. Steve Kellams says the children were fine and officials from the Department of Child Services were called and a grandmother took custody of the children.

Owen was arrested and charged with theft, larceny and neglect of a dependent.
