Last updated on Tuesday, August 6, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested Saturday after a stabbing at Highland Lounge on South Curry Pike Saturday night.

Police arrested 50-year-old Victor Maxwell on charges of battery with a deadly weapon and criminal trespassing after he allegedly stabbed a 47-year-old man in the leg.

According to Bloomington Police Sgt. Dana Cole, Maxwell was arrested outside of his apartment near the lounge.

According to Cole, Maxwell had been at the bar when an off-duty bartender and the man, a regular bar patron approached Maxwell.

Cole says, Maxwell had been banned from the bar because of previous altercations.

The two were attempting to escort Maxwell from the property and that is when Maxwell went to the back of the bar to an outside patio area and got into a verbal fight with the man. During that altercation, Maxwell allegedly pulled out a folding hunting knife and stabbed the man in the back of the leg.

The man was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment.
