Bedford Man Injured After Hay Rake Ran Over Him

(BEDFORD) - 63-year-old Michael Hamilton, of 1148 Todd Lane, was seriously injured after he fell from his tractor while raking hay and the rake ran over him Wednesday morning.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig, the accident was called in at 11:38 a.m. in the 800 block of Ozzee Farm Road.

Hamilton was alone raking hay when he called Jordon Fleetwood, an employee, who had left for lunch and told him to call 911 because he needed help.

Fleetwood dialed 911 and returned to the hay field and found Hamilton laying in the field.

According to a Lawrence County Police reports, after Hamilton fell from the 1980 Ford 7600 tractor it continued to go over a hill and through a couple of fences, across the road and hit a parked 1990 Buick LaSabre owned by John Smith.

Hamilton, who suffered severe internal injuries, was flown by Air Evac helicopter to an Indianapolis Hospital for treatment.

Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department first responders assisted at the scene.
