$40,000 Grant To Help Address Domestic Violence

Last updated on Friday, August 23, 2013

(BEDFORD) - Superior Court Judge Michael Robbins and Chief Probation Officer Nedra Brock-Fleetwood announced to the Lawrence County Council that they have received a $40,000 problem-solving grant to deal with domestic violence issues in the county.

Robbins credited Fleetwood's hard work and dedication in securing the grant. But Fleetwood shared the kudos with Doug Horton, director of community corrections.

Robbins added the grant will allow the courts and county deal with the increasing issues of domestic violence that plagues families in Lawrence County.

Officials will be putting together a team of experts who will then work with troubled families.

Robbins was at the forefront of forging the county's Domestic Violence Task Force, which garnered support from Indiana University's Department of Applied Health Science to address issues of domestic violence in the county.
