(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Recreation Foundation will present the 2013 Claude Akins Golf Classic August 31 and September 1 at Otis Park.
The six-person scramble offers a multitude of team, individual and weekend prizes with morning rounds getting under way at 7:15 a.m. and afternoon rounds start at 1:15 p.m. both days.
Proceeds from the event go to the Akins Scholarship and the BRF Scholarship, given every year to a graduating senior at BNL, as well as many projects involving recreation and improvements.
Such projects have included Special Olympics, playground equipment, the junior golf program, Boys and Girls Clubs and city parks.
Those wishing to participate as a sponsor in the event, or those wanting to put in a patron-sponsored team, should contact Joey Elliott at 275-3363.
Individual teams can contact Misty Adams at the Bedford City Utilities Office at 275-1626, ext. 1706. The entry fee is $65 per person.
