(HURON) - A West Baden woman was injured after her vehicle collided with a vehicle on U.S. 50 West Wednesday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 52-year-old Margaret Evans was traveling west when on U.S. 50 West when a deer ran into the path of her 2001 General Motors Yukon.
Evans attempted to swerve to miss the deer but her vehicle collided with the animal.
Evans lost control of the Yukon and the vehicle went left of center came back across the highway went off the edge of the road into a drainage ditch and embankment, overturned slid on its top back onto the roadway and then went off the roadway again. The Yukon then rolled back onto the driver's side and stopped.
Evans was not able to get out of the vehicle and had to be freed by Huron Volunteer Fire Department first responders.
Evans complained of back pain and was taken to the hospital by an IU Health Hospital ambulance.
Evans was worried about a large amount of cash and checks she had in the vehicle from a local business. A co-worker Jack Osborn was called to the scene to retrieve the money.
Police also found a Ruger .22-caliber handgun and police secured the weapon at the Lawrence County Police Department.
