(BLOOMINGTON) - A warrant was issued for 33-year-old Gary Lee Johnson Jr. Wednesday when he failed to show up for his initial hearing in Greene Circuit Court.

According to the Greene County Daily World Johnson is accused of hitting a parked SUV in Worthington then leaving the scene.

He was arrested on July 17, the jail log listed an address for him in Montgomery but court records list an address for him in Linton.

Deputy Marshal Wayman JR Blazier of the Worthington Police Department was dispatched around 2:30 a.m. on July 17 to North Jefferson Street where a man said a white SUV had just hit his vehicle that was parked along the side of the road.

The vehicle owner said the SUV, a white Dodge Durango, continued on, drove between a couple of houses, then took an alley to State Road 67.

Blazier looked for the SUV but was unable to find it. But he did notice a trail of fluid leading away from the damaged vehicle, through the yards, through the alley and onto the highway. The trail led north on SR 67 so Blazier contacted the Owen County Sheriff's Department.

Owen County officers found the SUV after it crashed at SR 67 and Gloryville Road in Owen County. Blazier headed north and found the SUV sitting in the middle of the highway at that intersection. The driver was not there.

Then the Spencer Police Department reported that Johnson was at the Speedway gas station in Spencer saying his vehicle had been stolen. Police detained Johnson until Blazier arrived. Johnson was arrested.

Johnson is also accused of intimidating a man who stopped to pick him up on the highway and gave him a ride into Spencer, and of being belligerent and uncooperative with officers Blazier and jail staff.

Johnson bonded out of jail on $450 cash and was supposed to be in court for his initial hearing at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.

When he is arrested again he will be charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in damage to an unattended vehicle and intimidation.
