Violent Sexual Offender Found Camping On B-Line Trail

Last updated on Saturday, July 27, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Bloomington Police Department were called to the B-Line Trail Tuesday after a report that a homeless man was living in a tent in the area.

Bloomington Police Sgt. Joe Crider says they found the tent but the man living in it was not there.

Then on Wednesday police went back to the tent and found a 41-year-old man inside.

Crider says the man is considered a sexual violent offender and is required to report to the Monroe County Sheriff's every seven days because he is homeless.

He had failed to do that.

Crider says officers called the man's parole officer and he came to the scene, but no arrest was made at that time.

Police took down the tent because it is illegal in Bloomington to camp within the city.
