Two Arrested After Police Find Drugs

(BEDFORD) — A Bedford man and woman were arrested Friday after police recieved a tip they were going to drive to Indianapolis to buy meth.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley police arrested 44-year-old Kevin Hedrick, of 3091 Mt. Pleasant Road and and 41-year-old Monica Downham Pederson, of 406 J Street. Friday afternoon.

Pederson is charged with possession of meth within 1,000 feet of a school and park, possession of less than 3 grams of meth, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and park, five counts of possession of a legend drug within 1,000 feet of a school and park, maintaining a common nuisance, operating a vehicle while being a habitual traffic violator for life and false informing.

Hedrick was arrested for being wanted on a Lawrence County warrant for operating a motor vehicle after forfeiture of license for life, wanted on a warrant for failure to stop after an accident resulting in non-vehicle damage and resisting arrest by fleeing.

The officers started looking for Pederson around 2 p.m. Friday. When officers did find her in her vehicle, they pulled her over.

Hedrick was in the vehicle and ran from police.

When officers were questioning Pederson, she gave several false names but finally admitted who she was.

While police were questioning Pederson a Bedford K9 was brought to the scene to search the vehicle.

Officers then went into Pederson's home and found more drugs.
