(UNDATED) - Indiana has received $1.5 million from the U.S. Department of Labor to help unemployed Hoosiers get back to work.
The money will help develop individual employment plans based on career interests and the local labor market.
After receiving an employment plan, unemployed workers will be referred to the American Job Center if they need additional training or skills. Acting Secretary of Labor Seth Harris says the grants is a win-win-win for those looking for work, employers who want to pay less taxes and states struggling to control their budgets.
The money is from a $65 million pot being distributed to states to help move people off unemployment benefits and back into the workforce.
Indiana's unemployment rate has hovered around 8 percent for more than a year.
