(SALEM) - 51-year-old James Smith was sentenced to 10 years in jail after he plead guilty to robbing a clerk at knife point at the Sprint Station on South Main Street in Salem, Easter morning.
The clerk called police at 1:27 a.m. reporting the robbery.
The clerk told police a man had entered the store to use the restroom. When he came out there were no customers in the store and that is when he showed the clerk a knife and demanded money.
Smith got $600 and then fled the store.
A customer in the parking lot also dialed 911.
Smith was captured after his photo was caught on the store's surveillance video and from descriptions of witnesses at the store. He was arrested a short time after the robbery.
