Patoka Man Seriously Injured In Personal Water Craft Accident

Last updated on Thursday, July 18, 2013

(PATOKA) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an accident involving two personal water craft that happened on Patoka Lake Wednesday shortly after 2 p.m.

Conservation officers responded to the Patoka Station Marina, where 20-year-old Alec Thompson, of Patoka, was taken by boat after the crash.

According to Officer Jim Schreck, Thompson suffered broken bones and head injuries he was flown by helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.

Schreck says Thompson was operating his water craft in front of another when the two collided, ejecting Thompson into the water. Both operators were wearing lifejackets, which likely prevented a fatality.

Assisting agencies at the scene included Crawford County EMS, English Volunteer Fire Department and Air Ambulance.
