Registration Information For North Lawrence And Mitchell Schools

(UNDATED) - The following is a list of registration information for both North Lawrence and Mitchell Community Schools for the 2013-14 school calendar.

North Lawrence

Calendar

• Aug. 7: Teacher in-service day


• Aug. 8: First student day


• Sept. 2: Labor Day; no school


• Oct. 11: End of first grading period


• Oct. 14-18: Fall break; no school


• Nov. 27-29: Thanksgiving break; no school


• Dec. 20: Last student day before Christmas break; end of first semester


• Jan. 6: Classes resume after Christmas break


• Feb. 17: Presidents' Day (no school, but a make-up day if needed)


• March 14: End of third grading period


• March 24-28: Spring break; no school


• May 26: Memorial Day; no school


• May 29: Last student day of the school year and end of second semester

Book rental

The total costs for students in kindergarten through grade 5:

• Kindergarten: $130


• First grade: $127


• Second grade: $128


• Third grade: $120


• Fourth grade: $113


• Fifth grade: $114

Because of the differing schedules and electives, the total costs for pupils in grades 6 through 12 can vary depending on the classes a student takes.

Meal prices

• Student breakfast: $1.25


• Student lunch: $2.30


• Milk: 50 cents


• Reduced-price breakfast: 30 cents


• Reduced-price lunch: 40 cents


• Adult breakfast: $2


• Adult lunch: $3

Registration

All schools, except BNL and the NL Career Center

• July 30: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2-3 p.m. and 3:30-7 p.m.


• July 31: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-3 p.m.


• Aug. 1: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-3 p.m.

BNL and the NL Career Center

• July 29: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-3 p.m.


• July 30: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-3 p.m.


• July 31: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-3 p.m.


• Aug. 1: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2-3 p.m. and 3:30-7 p.m.


• Aug. 2: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-3 p.m.

All North Lawrence schools will accept Visa or MasterCard credit or debit cards for payments of textbooks rentals for the 2013-2014 school year. There will be a convenience charge of $4 added to the bill. If a parent or guardian opts to use a credit card for payment, the school will only be able to accept regular consumer credit cards or debit cards. School personnel will not be able to accept business or reward cards.

Fees at Mitchell Junior High School and Mitchell High School depend on the classes taken.

Hatfield, Burris

• $1.10 daily for breakfast, or $5.50 weekly


• $1.70 daily for lunch, or $8.50 weekly


• Milk, juice: 30 cents per carton

MJHS, MHS

• $1.10 daily for breakfast, or $5.50 weekly


• $1.80 daily for lunch, or $9 weekly


• A la carte prices vary at MHS and MJHS.

Registration

All Mitchell schools

• July 29: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.


• July 30: Noon to 7 p.m.


• July 31: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All supply lists are available in stores and online at www.mitchell.k12.in.us

Open houses

All students and parents are invited to open houses at Hatfield and Burris on Aug. 6. Times are 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Hatfield, and from 6-7 p.m. at Burris.

Parents and students should feel free to tour the schools and meet and greet teachers.

New students

First-time enrollees should set up an appointment with Laura Walton, MJHS school counselor, on or after July 29.
