Monroe Lake Recipe Competition Seeks Unique Ideas For s'mores

Last updated on Tuesday, July 9, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe Lake is accepting entries for its second annual S’mores Recipe Competition.

Entries are limited to two per person and must be received by August 5.

All recipes must meet Monroe Lake's basic definition of a "s'more." They must contain at least one item that is toasted over a campfire (but doesn't have to be a marshmallow) and be assembled "sandwich-style."

"We really encourage people to get creative and think about unique combinations," said Jill Vance, Monroe Lake's naturalist.

Monroe Lake staff will select three finalists for visitors to sample during a celebration of National S'mores Day on August 10. People's-choice voting will determine the overall winner.

Recipe submissions must include a complete list of ingredients and all preparation and assembly instructions. Each entry must include the participant's name, phone number, mailing address and email address. Entries should be submitted to jvance@dnr.IN.gov (subject line "S'mores Recipe") or to the Paynetown Activity Center, 4850 S. SR 446, Bloomington, IN 47401.

By submitting a recipe, you grant full rights to Monroe Lake and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for use of that recipe as they deem fit, including, but not limited to, promotional items, publicity and publication.

For more information, contact Vance at jvance@dnr.IN.gov or (812) 837-9967.
