(BLOOMINGTON) - Two Bloomington men were arrested after they allegedly assaulted a man and took his wallet and cellphone.

Bloomington Police officers were called to the 2000 block of North Walnut Street at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday after the caller reported they saw a man, with a baseball bat, chasing another man.

When police arrived the 27-year-old man told police he was walking in the parking lot complex to visit a friend when he was assaulted by two men. The men took his wallet and his cellphone.

Lt. Steve Kellams says the two men,19-year-old Christopher Alexander Wilder and 18-year-old Ralph Anthony Murphy II, both of Bloomington, then ran from the scene.

The man told police that after the attack he went to his friend's apartment and grabbed a baseball bat. The man and his two friends then found Wilder and Murphy hiding in a nearby tree line.

Police arrested Wilder and Murphy on charges of battery and robbery.

Kellams says the man did get back his cellphone, but police were not able to find the man's wallet.
