Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit

(JASONVILLE) - A 21-year-old Hymera man armed with three weapons, including a SKS assault rifle, led area police on a high speed chase Thursday night before crashing his vehicle on Lone Tree Road, south of State Road 48 in Greene County.

Jasonville Assistant Police Chief Jim Gadberry says Travis A. Flowers, was arrested after leading officers on chase where speeds exceeded 85 miles per hour.

Gadberry told the Greene County Daily World that officer who were familiar with Flowers had been looking for him most of the day after he allegedy had stolen a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am in one incident and firearms including an SKS rifle, 12 gauge shotgun and a .357 mag revolver and some cash from another Hymera residence.

Gadberry says officers searched several homes in Clay, Sullivan and Greene County after they received information that he was armed with the stolen firearms. Flowers had said he wasn't going back to jail and intended on harming officers that tried to take him. A warrant had been issued for Flowers' arrest on Thursday.

The pursuit started in Clay County - north of Coalmont and ended in Greene County on Lone Tree north of CR 800N where Flowers was taken into custody without incident.

Flowers was booked into the Greene County Jail in Bloomfield on preliminary charges of felony resisting law enforcement, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving and a felony theft warrant .

Officers from Jasonville and Linton Police departments, Greene and Clay County Sheriffs departments and Indian Conservation Officers all took part in the manhunt.

Police say Flowers is facing additional charges in Sullivan County.
