(SALEM) - After several years as West Washington Junior/Senior High School principal, Karen York has resigned to take a position with the Indiana Department of Education.

She will serve as the Outreach Coordinator for the area, serving as a link between schools, communities, homes and the DOE.

The school board held a special meeting Thursday to accept her resignation, along with the resignation of Kay Brown, West Washington special education coordinator. Both were accepted unanimously.

The board appointed Keith Nance as interim principal.

The school's search for a new principal will end on Wednesday, applications will be evaluated on Thursday and interviews will start on July 15.
