(SALEM) - Gretchen Leis was crowned Tuesday at Miss Washington County Teen.
The Leader Democrat reports, 11 young ladies competed in sports and formal wear contests, each answering the question of why they should be the next Miss Teen.
The third runner-up, was Mallory Smith. Second runner-up, was Bri Little and first runner-up, was Madison Bills.d."
13-year-old Gretchen Leis, is the daughter of Chris and Lesle Leis. She was sponsored by Christie's on the Square and attends Salem Middle School. She is involved with 4-H, Junior Leaders, Goat Club, and volunteers at Blue River Services, the Salvation Army, Relay For Life, Blue River Church, Buddy Walk, and Splash and Shiver. She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, student government, Cubs News, the Science Bowl, National History Day, softball, volleyball, Locks of Love and has been a fair queen escort.
One of her goals as Miss Teen is bring more awareness to the pageant and bring more girls into the competition.
14-year-old Bri Little is the daughter of Doug and Tara Little and was sponsored by The Barkery dog groomers. She's a student at Salem Middle School, and, like Leis her best friend, she keeps busy with a myriad of activities, including work at her church, Southern Hills, running in the Blue River Services 5K, cross country, basketball, swimming, track, National Junior Honors Society, yearbook staff, National History Day, the fair and photography.
Madison Bills, 16, who won first runner-up, has been in pageants for the past four years.
She is the daughter of Kent and Theiss Bills and a student at Salem High School. She is involved with We The Youth, First Christian Church, youth group, bell choir, serves as a food bank volunteer, hospital volunteers, helps with Old Settlers' Days, Teem Effort Youth Mission Trips, Relay For Life, Christmas Shoe Box Assistance Program, serves as a Salvation Army Bell ringer and the Souper Bowl of Caring. She is a Salem High School softball player, football manager, Lion Award winner, National History Day competitor, won Babe Ruth Player of the Year and the Golden Ladle. She enjoys high school sports, music, drawing, watching funny movies and being with friends and family.
Third runner-up 15-year-old Mallory Smith is the daughter of Gail Wisecarver and Josh Smith and was sponsored by Persinger Lawn and Garden. She's a student at West Washington High School and keeps herself busy with 4-H, FFA, Spirit Club, We The Youth, softball and served as football manager. Her interests include reading, listening to country music, riding four-wheelers, spending time with her friends, going to football games and truck and tractor pulls.
