(UNDATED) - Halea Franklin of the Greene County Daily World reports, eight young ladies are vying for the title of Miss Greene County 2013.
The queen will be crowned Sunday at the annual Greene County 4-H Queen Pageant. The contest kicks off at 4 p.m. at the commercial building at the fairgrounds.
Judges for the contest are Mark Sims, of Martin County, Julie Spearkers, of Sullivan County and Kay Stafford of Daviess County.
The girls will wear evening gowns and answer questions from the crowd on Sunday and on Saturday wearing business attire the girls will face a private interview with the judges. Contestants will be judged in three divisions: Private interview, evening gown, and professional wear.
In the private interview, contestants will be judged on ability to converse, personality, and poise. In the evening gown portion, contestants will be judged on stage presence and overall impression. In the professional wear segment, the contestants will be judged on posture and poise as well as overall impression.
Miss Greene County will receive a $500 scholarship in addition to other prizes. She will also have the opportunity to compete in the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant in Indianapolis later next month.
* Brooke Arthur, 19, is the daughter of Bill and Pam Arthur of Bloomfield. The White River Valley High School graduate is a sophomore at Purdue University. She's majoring in agronomy with a minor in welding technologies.
* Bethanie Dyar, 17, is the daughter of Jeff and Kia Dyar. She's a junior at White River Valley High School. She is a member of both FFA and 4-H. After high school, she plans on attending college and majoring in psychology.
* Jocelyn Gadberry, 16, is the daughter of Todd and Stephanie Gadberry. She is a junior at Bloomfield High School. After high school, she plans on attending IU South Bend to study nursing.
* Paige Hoffeditz, 18, is the daughter of Brad and Kimberly Nickless and David Hoffeditz. A graduate of White River Valley High School, she will attend Indiana University to study social studies education.
* Laura Hughes, 18, is the daughter of Judy Hughes and the late Greg Hughes. She's a senior at White River Valley High School. After graduating high school, she plans on attending Vincennes University for Business Administration.
* Courtney Johnson, 17, is the daughter of Troy and Carol Johnson. She's a senior at Linton-Stockton High School. After graduation, she plans on attending college with a major in veterinary medicine.
* Nicole Mattox, 18, is the daughter of Steve and Amanda Mattox. She is a graduate of Shakamak High School and will be attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology this fall where she will double major in computer and software engineering and minor in robotics.
* Jesse McDonald, 17, is the daughter of Russ and Michaele McDonald. She's entering her senior year at White River Valley High School. She plans on attending Purdue University and majoring in general health studies.
