(UNDATED) - Alcohol will be flowing to celebrate the Fourth of July, but police are reminding you to obey the commercials and drink responsibly.
There's no law against walking around a party with a bottle of beer -- or something stronger.
Indiana does have an Open Container Law, but it applies only in a moving vehicle, and only to the driver or front-seat passengers.
But all the rules that apply to alcohol the rest of the year apply on the Fourth of July too: you can't be under 21, you should never drink and drive, and being drunk in public is a misdemeanor even if you're on foot. Police encourage lining up a designated driver.
And police and fire officials are emphasizing you shouldn't drink if you're going to be handling fireworks.
