(BEDFORD) - The Bedford City Council passed a compliance with statement of benefits for several Bedford businesses Tuesday night.
Greg Stokes, of Stokes & Housel CPAs asked for a real estate resolution be passed for Cosner Ice Company Inc.
"They have a new state of the art wearhouse that will 3 quarter million bags of ice," Stokes told the council. "It is amazing. That way if there is a tradgedy like Kartrina they will have the ice available to sell to the needed areas."
Cosner Ice employees 51 people and recently held the Great Lake Ice Association meeting that brought around 80 people to the area for a weekend.
Stoke also representing GEO-FLO Products Corporation asked the council to pass a resolution for personal property for GEO-FLO and a resolution for for compliance with statement of benefits for Bedford Development LLC for real estate.
"GEO-FLO is the operating enity and Bedford Development LLC owns the property," Stokes says. "They gave their 15 employees a raise the first of July and received the Extreme Vendor Award from Water Furnaces for a third year."
The council also passed a resolution presented by Mayor Shawna Girgis and City Attorney Greg Pittman authorizing the commitment of funds for the Scenic Byways Grant Fund.
"We were approached by the group because they were needing someone to by the fiscal agent for the $34,000 grant," Mayor Shawna Girgis told the council. "This is not our money. INDOT is funding the project to put up signs for the Scenic Byway. The project host is the University of Southern Indiana."
Mayor Girgis and the council thanked the Heritage Festival committee and city employees for their outstanding job with the parade and 4th of July activities.
Council member Bryan Buker updated the council on the planning commissions meeting stating the big event is that Kindred Spirits is opening a liqour store in the ATT building off John Williams Boulevard.
"They will be using two suites," Buker added.
Council member Mark Scherschel reminded the council of the Cancer Society Garden Walk on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
"A master garderner will be at each location along 14th Street to answer questions," Scherschel added. "The walk begins at Wiley House and tickets can also be purchased there and I believe Copy Trolley."
