Veterans To Be Honored At Limestone Heritage Festival Parade

(BEDFORD) - Entry forms for the 2013 Limestone Heritage Festival Parade, slated for July 4, are available at the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce and due by June 24.

The theme of the parade is "Heroes of Lawrence County." Veterans are invited to participate in a breakfast at Golden Corral.

Veterans who wish to ride in the parade are asked to contact Grissom at the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce.

The grand marshal of the parade is the Bedford North Lawrence High School state championship basketball team. A ceremony will mark the beginning of the festival around 11 a.m. at Courthouse Square. Streets will be closed off at that time. On the square, a call to colors will take place with JoAnna Cobb sing the national anthem. The girls basketball team will receive the key to the city and plaques.

The parade starts at noon at at 15th and M streets continuing down 16th Street, go around the square, down Lincoln Avenue and end on 13th Street. GM Bedford Casting is the parade's sponsor.

After the parade, from 1:30-4:30 p.m., the Limestone Heritage Festival old fashioned ice cream social will be at the Thornton Park Pavilion with The Residue performing.

Then a Lawrence County community band concert will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Before the fireworks at Parkview track at 10:15 p.m., a concert by Sheila Stephen and the Rodeo Monkeys will take place at 7:30 p.m.
