Two Injured After Bee Lands On Driver Causing Crash

(BEDFORD) - Two people were injured after a head-on collision on Valley Mission Road Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 20-year-old Jonah Kirkman, of 1089 Hayes Rd., was traveling north on Valley Mission Road when a bee landed on him and he was attempting to swat at the bee when he drove his 1998 Jeep Wrangler over the center and crashed head-on with a northbound 1994 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 58-year-old Deborah Clevenger, of Ellettsville.

Kirkman was not injured in the crash, but his passenger 19-year-old Skylar Shoemaker, of 529 North Pike, suffered minor bleeding to her face.

Clevenger had minor bleeding and complained of body pain.

Kirkman was cited for driving left of center.

Marshall Volunteer Fire Department first responders and an IU Health Hospital ambulance assisted at the scene.
