(BEDFORD) - Two Bedford residents were arrested at Wilson Park on numerous drug charges early Saturday morning.
According to the Bedford Police log, officers went to the park at 12:15 a.m.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were on routine patrol in the park when they noticed a car parked near the horseshoe pits.
As the officer drove up on the vehicle, it pulled away, but soon stopped again.
The driver, 32-year-old Andrew Wilson, told police he was having car trouble. While Wilson was working on the vehicle, police called in Wilson's and his passenger 27-year-old Frankie Meadows driver's licenses.
That is when police discovered Wilson was driving with a suspended driver's license and Meadows was wanted on Lawrence County warrants.
Parsley says as officers were doing an inventory on the vehicle so it could be towed they discovered 4 active one-pot meth labs.
"That is when the Indiana State Police Clandestine Team was called to the scene to safely dispose of the labs," Parsley says. "Officers also found a generator, a small amount of marijuana, pills, packaged meth and items used to make the drug inside the vehicle."
There they arrested Meadows, of 1110 12th St., on charges of manufacturing meth, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of precursors used to make meth, visiting a common nuisance and on a warrant for failure to appear on a theft charge and on a warrant for petition to revoke probation on a suspended sentence for theft.
32-year-old Andrew Wilson, of 316 East Heltonville Rd., was charged with manufacturing meth, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of precursors used to make meth, maintaining a common nuisance and two counts of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and driving while driver's license was suspended.
Wilson was also charged with trafficking after jail officials found a bag a marijuana hid in Wilson's underwear and a bag of meth.
