(BLOOMINGTON) - A devastating tornado didn't hit the campus of Indiana University Wednesday but officials did everything to make it look that way.

The former Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house was demolished and used for a one-of-a-kind training exercise for the Indiana National Guard and other Bloomington emergency responders.

The building was one of three that was already scheduled for demolition when chosen as a practice site for search and rescue teams.

Approximately 250 people participated in the scenario that involved rescuing mannequins placed inside the building before demolition.

University officials said the exercise provided an opportunity to work with agencies that would realistically assist during a natural disaster.

Teams treated the scene as if an EF5 tornado touched down like those that hit Moore, Oklahoma and Joplin, Missouri.
