Parents Invited To Block Party

Last updated on Thursday, June 6, 2013

(BEDFORD) - Purdue Extension is putting on two free block parties at Head Start, 710 Sixth St., on June 11 to introduce parents to the fun and learning children have playing with blocks.

Children who play with blocks can learn a variety of skills, such as math, science and social skills as well as creativity and problem-solving skills, according to research.

Parents will be informed on how their children can learn these skills through block play. They will also receive tips on how to help their children develop these skills.

The first 30 families to register and attend will receive a free set of blocks.

Block parties are at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and are open to parents up to age 24 and their children between the ages of 8 months and 8 years of age.

Refreshments will be provided.

To register, call the Lawrence County Extension Office, 275-4623.
