(MITCHELL) - Mitchell and Indiana State Police are investigating a possible breaking and entry and sexual assault of a Mitchell woman.
Police were called to a home in the 900 block of Crawford Street at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday.
According to Mitchell Police, the woman called reporting someone had broke into her home, assaulted her and stole her money and medications.
Indiana State Police technicians were called to the home to gather evidence.
The woman, who is handicapped and in a wheelchair, suffered no physical injuries, but she was taken to the hospital for a rape examination.
The case remains under investigation.
