Last updated on Tuesday, June 11, 2013

(EAST OOLITIC) - A Bedford man is facing charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he crashed his motorcycle Saturday night.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 54-year-old Bryan White was stopped at the intersection of East Oolitic Road and Peerless Road and was attempting to turn onto Peerless Road when he lost control of his 2002 AMF motorcycle.

White told police he lost control of the cycle because of a bad rear tire on the bike.

White attempted to regain control of the motorcycle, went left of center and off the est side of the road, crashing near a wall.

White was trapped under the motorcycle and others at the scene help lift the bike off of him.

White suffered a broken femur and cuts and scraps to his left arm. He was taken to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.

Officers at the scene noticed White had blood shot eyes and his speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol.

While at the hospital, he submitted to a blood-alcohol test, which has been sent to the Indiana State Department of Toxicology for testing.

Police say White is facing a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, pending the results of the blood test.

Assisting at the scene were first responders from Oolitic and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Departments and an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew.
