(BEDFORD) - The 2013 Bedford North Lawrence All-Star Baseball Camp is scheduled for June 17-21 at Stars Baseball Field at BNL.

Any boy or girl who wants to be a better baseball player should attend daily, with ages 7-10 scheduled for 8 to 9:30 a.m., and ages 11-14 slated for 10 a.m. to noon.

The cost of the camp is $40, and each camper will receive a T-shirt. Coaches Nick Gates, Curt Alvey, Steve Underwood, Dennis Kissinger, Jeff Callahan, and Jerry Chaney will run each session.

Walk-ins are welcome and should report on Monday, June 17 to register near the left-field foul pole. In case of rain, the camp will be moved inside the BNL Fieldhouse.

BNL's Weber sets practice dates

New Bedford North Lawrence football head coach Steve Weber has announced preseason practice starting dates for current varsity high school players, and incoming freshmen.

High school players should report to BNL on Monday at 9 a.m. Practices will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.
Incoming freshmen will start on June 11 at 4 p.m.. Practices will be on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m. each week.

All players will need a multi-panel wrist coach (a cloth-and-plastic wristband on which plays will be listed), and for those without one they will be provided by the athletic department.

BNL hoops camp June 10-14

The Bedford North Lawrence boys basketball camp is scheduled for June 10- 14 for boys going into kindergarten through eighth grades (grades are based on the 2013-2014 school year).

The focus of the camp will be teaching the fundamentals of the game of basketball. The cost for each camper will be $30 and each child will receive a t-shirt at the conclusion of the camp.

Times for the camp will be as follows: incoming kindergarteners through fourth-grade students, 8-10 a.m.; incoming fifth- through eighth-grade students, 10 a.m. to noon.

BNL girls soccer to meet Monday

A "call out" meeting for all girls intending to play soccer at Bedford North Lawrence this fall is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 3 at the BNL soccer complex across from the high school.

Conditioning will take place following the meeting and end at 8:30. Those unable to attend the meeting but planning to play should email lstarsfutbal@gmail.com.

Farmers' camp to start Tuesday

The Shawswick Farmers Basketball Camp will be held June 4-7 at Shawswick Middle School.

Players in grades one through four will attend from 8 -10 a.m. Players in grades five through eight will attend from 10 a.m. to noon.

The cost is $30, and each camper will receive a shirt. Make checks payable to Paul Stevens.

IU Health offers free sports echo

The Cardiology Department at IU Health Bedford Hospital will offer free sports echo- cardio screenings on Saturday, June 8 starting at 9 a.m.

The free screening is available to all area high school athletes who are at least 14 years old and have never had an echo before. Space is limited and appointments must be made by calling (812) 275-1332.

Cat Camp set for June 3-6

Oolitic Middle School will conduct Cat Camp 2013 at the gymnasium on June 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Boys and girls entering grades 1-5 will be in camp from 8-10 a.m., while boys and girls entering grades 6-9 will be in camp from 10:30 until 12:30.

Cost of the camp is $35 and each camper will receive a free T-shirt. Make checks payable to Oolitic Middle School.
