(ORANGE COUNTY) - Members of the Key family, many of whom currently live on the Orange County farm the family refers to as the Agan homestead, were at the Indiana Statehouse recently to accept a Hoosier Homestead Sesquicentennial Award.
The farm is in Southeast Township and has been owned by the family since 1825. To qualify for a Sesquicentennial Award, a farm must have been owned by the same family for at least 150 years.
The Hoosier Homestead program was instituted in 1976 and recognizes the contributions family farms have made to the economic, cultural and social advancements of Indiana. In the past 30 years, more than 5,000 farms have received the honor.
