Five People Jailed After Police Find Heroin

(BEDFORD) - Five people were arrested early this morning after police discover a large amount of heroin.

The Lawrence County Drug Task Force and Bedford Police SWAT Team went to the home in the 100 block of J Hunter Drive armed with a search warrant.

"We had information that there was a large amount of heroin and drug activity at the home," says Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley. "And the rest is history."

Officers found a substantial amounts of heroin, drug paraphernalia involved with heroin, rock heroin, which is a combination of the raw rock form of heroin and the brown powder form of heroin, a small quantity of marijuana and paraphernalia involved with marijuana.

Arrested were:

* Stacie A. Reed, 46, 151 J Hunter Drive, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of heroin with intent to deal within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, neglect of a dependent, possession of marijuana less than 30 grams.

* Caleb T. Bay, 30, 2550 Oak Ridge Drive, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of heroin with intent to deal within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of paraphernalia, dealing heroin, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana with less than 30 grams.

* Lori A. Stalker, 45, Mitchell, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of heroin with intent to deal within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana with less than 30 grams.

* Jerry B. Lee, 46, Mitchell, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of heroin with intent to deal within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana with less than 30 grams.

* Cory B. Lee, 21, French Lick, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of heroin with intent to deal within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana with less than 30 grams.

A 6-year-old was at the home when police arrived. Child Protective Services were contacted and arrangement were made for the child.

Parsley says because the house is near Parkview Intermediate those involved will be facing stiffer charges.

Parsley says the don't yet have the quantities for the heroin found at the scene.
