(BLOOMFIELD) - The deadline to register for the Greene County fair contest is Saturday.
The pageant will be July 6 and 7 at the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds. The contest is open to Greene County girls ages 16-21, and participants do not have to be a 4-H member to enter. The winner of the contest will preside over the Greene County 4-H Fair.
Event organizer Georgetta Daters says there will be a $500 scholarship awarded to the queen, and cash prizes for the first and second runners-up.
The competition is set in three phases, including a private interview, evening gown, and professional wear.
In the private interview, contestants will be judged on ability to converse, personality, and poise. In the evening gown portion, contestants will be judged on stage presence and overall impression. In the professional wear segment, the contestants will be judged on posture and poise as well as overall impression.
Daters noted meetings will be scheduled for the contestants before the competition.
