(UNDATED) - Rep. Todd Young announced today that he is currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Angels in Adoption program, a program sponsored by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, which gives Members of Congress an opportunity to recognize individuals, couples or organizations that have made an impact on the lives of children through adoption and foster care.
"As a member of both the Congressional Coalition on Adoption and the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth, it's an honor to be able to help raise awareness about adoption, foster care programs, and other support groups throughout the country," said Young. "Angels in Adoption has become an incredible resource for members of Congress to better understand the personal stories of those directly involved in these programs. As I recently began serving on the Ways and Means Subcommittee for Human Resources, which has oversight of these issues, this program has especially been helpful to our office."
Each year, the bicameral, bipartisan Congressional Coalition on Adoption sponsors the Angels in Adoption program to honor those who have made significant efforts to improve the lives of children in need of a home. The Angel selected from each district will be invited to Washington, D.C. on October 9th, 2013 to participate in three days of events designed to help selectees better use their experiences to advocate for foster children and orphans. Additionally, they will meet with Congressman Young and other Congressional leaders to share their stories and other work being done to support foster care and adoption programs.
Residents of the 9th Congressional District are encouraged to submit their nominations to Young's Jeffersonville Office located at 279 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN 47130. The deadline for submitting nominations is Monday, July 15th, 2013.
