Bloomington Man Arrested After Punching Man In Face

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested after he allegedly punched a man in the face and stole his money.

According to Bloomington Police Sgt. Joe Crider, 21-year-old Casey Allen Flynn was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. Crider says Flynn could also be charged with robbery, but that charge has not been filed at this time.

According to police were called to the 1200 block of West 12th Street, Wednesday around 11 p.m. There they found a 41-year-old man with a bloody face and lacerations under his eye and nose.

The man told police he was walking in the are when Flynn, who was riding a bike, allegedly approached the man and punched him in the face and then took his money.

Witnesses told police they saw Flynn on the bike, but police were unable to locate him.

Crider says around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Flynn went to the Bloomington Police Station because someone had told him police were looking for him.

Flynn told police he was at a friend's house "hanging out" when the victim allegedly threatened to harm him. Flynn allegedly told the man "how would you like that if I said that to you?"

Flynn told police that is when victim attacked him and Flynn was acting in self-defense and punched the man until he fell to the ground.

Flynn told police after the man was down, he left on his bike. Flynn denied taking the man's money.
