Bedford Public Library Summer Events

(BEDFORD) - The library is off and running with a summer filled with 24 special programs and events in support of summer reading.

Sign-up for summer reading began on Monday and continues through the summer, culminating in late July with the C.R. Ryan Magic Show for everyone who finishes the summer reading program.

The Bedford Public Library's Summer Reading Festival is Thursday, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the library parking lot. This free family fun event is in its fourth year and is more popular every year. This year's festival features a balloon artist, as well as many events and activities provided by the library and local clubs and organizations.

Safe Night

The library participates in Safe Night and will be at the fairgrounds from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Puppets

On Tuesday, the Puppet Pals and Pretty Gals Puppet Show will take place in adult services at 3 p.m. and a Gnome Garden Party will take place for teens from 4 to 6 p.m. in the program room. The teen program is for teens only, and all teens are invited.

Dig it

On June 13 at 3 p.m. in children's services, library staff present "Dig Into Gardening" for children up to age 7. Children will plant a flower, play a game and learn about gardening.
College plans

Also on June 13, Collegiate Thursday meets from 4 to 6 p.m. in the program room. Participants will learn about how to plan for college and have a question-and-answer session with a college student . Each Collegiate Thursday provides essential college information along with free refreshments and prizes.

'Whoo's There?'

On June 14 at 3 p.m. in the program room, Rebecca Bade of Hoosier National Forest presents "Whoo's There?" a program about owls. Participants will dissect an owl pellet and learn fun facts about owls.
