Adopt A Shelter Cat During "Cat-a-Palooza"

(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Animal Shelter is celebrating Adopt-a-Cat Month in June with “Cat-a-Palooza: Peace, Love and Catnip,” which includes special adoption fees.

Cats 1 year old and older are $15. Kittens younger than 1 year old are two for the price of one at $75. Single kittens can be adopted for $45.

The Shelter has cats and kittens of all ages and colors available for adoption, including shorthairs, longhairs and those who are already declawed.

Regular adoption fees are $75 for cats younger than 5 years old and $55 for cats that are 5 years old and older. Included in the fee are spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and testing for feline leukemia and FIV.

June is national Adopt a Cat Month and the Shelter joins shelters and rescue groups across the country and the American Humane Association in promoting shelter adoptions.

The public can visit adoptable animals at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter, located at 3410 S. Walnut St. The Shelter is open to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from noon until 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Adoptable animals also can be seen on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Farmers' Market and can be viewed online at www.bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter and at www.facebook.com/COBAnimalShelter.
