White River Humane Society Offers Dogs And Cats For $20

Last updated on Thursday, May 16, 2013

(BEDFORD) - The White River Humane Society has so many abandoned animals they are offering reduced adoption fees.

Now through the end of May, any dog or cat can be adopted for $20. The reduced price includes all the same services as usual. The standard adoption fee is $100 for puppies, $85 for dogs and $75 for cats.

WRHS Board President Buddy Hendricks says the shelter is overrun with animals. If the animals don't find homes they will have to be euthanized and the board is trying to avoid that alternative.

As much as the shelter needs for the adoption fee to reimburse it for its expenses in caring for the animal, when looking at the alternative they would rather take the lose and place the pet in a good home.
