Former Washington Native Featured On 60 Minutes

(WASHINGTON) - A former Washington resident was on CBS’s 60 Minutes, Sunday night, recounting her kidnapping in Somalia and her rescue by Seal Team Six in January of 2012.

Jessica Buchanan, who lived in Washington as a child, is the daughter of Washington native, John Buchanan, and the niece of Washington businessman Dave Buchanan.

She was in Somalia as a humanitarian aid worker, teaching Somali children and helping them learn how to avoid landmines. She was kidnapped on October 25, 2011, and held captive for 93 days. On 60 Minutes, Buchannan recounted her kidnapping and the dramatic rescue by the Navy's SEALS.
