(LINTON) - When a Jasonville woman accused of shoplifting from Walmart was asked why she did it, she allegedly told an officer she did it just to see if she could get away with it.

Anna Rochelle of the Greene County Daily World reports that 25-year-old Constance Sue Bickel, was arrested Sunday on a warrant issued for her arrest.

Officer Thomas A. Jerrels of the Linton Police Department was dispatched to the store late on April 20. One of the store's asset prevention employees told Jerrels he had watched Bickel as she selected multiple items from around the store. He said she would select items then go to the toy department where she would conceal the merchandise.
The employee said Bickel did pick up a two-liter bottle of soda and paid for it when she went through checkout but she failed to pay for the items hidden in her purse.

The items Bickel is accused of stealing include: a dress, candy, caffeine pills, alcohol, permanent markers, a tattoo magazine and a picture book. The retail cost of the merchandise was $74.58.

Bickel was detained by store personnel then after an interview with the officer, she was released with a warning to not trespass at any WalMart stores.

A criminal case was filed against Bickel in Greene Circuit Court on April 23 and a bench warrant issued.
When she was picked up, she was booked into the Greene County Jail but has since been released after posting bond.

On Wednesday, she appeared in court for an initial hearing and was charged with one count of theft, a class D felony.
