(CRANE) - WestGate at Crane Technology Park has a new defense contractor that provides engineering and technical services support to a wide range of world-wide clients.
Nick Schneider of the Greene County Daily World reports that Camber Corporation is opening a technology office in the tech park. Camber Corporation's customers span the global and federal market place and include Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and state governments as well as wide ranging international clients from Dubai to Japan, the Philippines, Africa, and Asia.
"Camber represents a major international defense company engaged in numerous strategic services that can benefit NSWC Crane and the region, and we are pleased to welcome them to the WestGate," said Donald P. Schulte, executive director of the park.
Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama and maintain personnel at more than 106 locations worldwide, Camber provides services for cyber security, special operations, modeling and simulation, joint operations, unmanned aerial systems and integrated engineering and management solutions.
The company is leasing 3,500 square feet in the WestGate and employs about 16 people in the region.
WestGate Authority President John Mensch, of Bloomfield, is pleased that the tenants keep increasing at the tech park. He's especially pleased that Camber is coming to southern Indiana from a place that already has a large and successful tech park.
"We are happy to have them and feel they will compliment the contractors that are already there," Mensch said. "It's a positive step for us."
Camber presently has more than 2,500 employees in offices and facilities in the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa, and executed approximately $475 million of business in FY2013.
The opening of the new Camber office in the WestGate follows the company's acquisition of Novonics, which previously had facilities both in Bloomington and the WestGate tech park. Both locations will remain in operation.
"This move by Camber demonstrates the strategic attractiveness of the WestGate to defense and technology companies and we look forward to the future growth and expansion of the company," said Joe Wellman, mayor of Washington.
