Last updated on Tuesday, May 28, 2013

(BEDFORD) - Three people were injured in a rear-end collision on U.S. 50 East Monday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 72-year-old Larry Stevens, of Mitchell, was traveling east on U.S. 50 East near Glenview Drive when traffic on the highway was slowing and stopping in front of his motorcycle to make a left turn into a driveway at 2825 U.S. 50.

Police say there were three vehicles behind the vehicle turning and because the area was on a hillcrest Stevens was unable to see the vehicles in time to get his 1994 Honda GL 1500 stopped in time to avoid a collision. Stevens motorcycle collided with a 2001 Nissan Frontier truck driven by 20-year-old Francisco Rendon Reyes, of Seymour.

Stevens and his passenger, 67-year-old Mary Stevens, were thrown from the motorcycle.

Larry suffered bleeding to his face and Mary was unconscious and suffered head injuries. She was flown by helicopter from the scene.

Reyes, 20, complained of chest pain. His two passengers, Rhonda and Steffanie Kimbell were not injured.

Reyes was cited for driving while never licensed.
