(MITCHELL) - Six months ago, Mitchell City Council vacated a portion of an alley that was platted by never used that runs north and south behind the Mitchell Motor Sales Building.
Attorney and property owner Chris Burton explained that vacating the alley would allow for "economic development" to take place on the land that is situated between the JayC store and Mitchell Motor Sales.
Now the new property owners need more of the alley vacated. The board approved that request.
Also during the meeting, the council passed a resolution that would commit the funding for the sewer upgrade project.
The grant application is due in to the Office of Community and Rural Affairs Friday, and the resolution was needed to submit the grant.
The city should know by Aug. 31 if it will receive the $500,000 requested for the project.
