(LYONS) - McKinley Frye has been selected as the Lyons Strawberry Festival queen for 2013 and will reign over this year's annual festival.

Frye is a student at White River Lyons Elementary School and was crowned last week by Lyons Councilwoman Michelle Emmons.

The festival queen is chosen based on their academic achievement -- the queen is always the sixth-grade girl with the highest grade-point average at the local school.

Frye will be participating in the Festival parade in Lyons at 10 a.m. on June 1 and during the festival on June 2.
