Man Pled Guilty To Child Molesting

Last updated on Friday, May 10, 2013

(ELNORA) - 23-year-old Logan Ward pled guilty to three counts of child molesting in Daviess Superior Court on Wednesday.

Nate Smith of the Washington Times-Herald reports that as part of a plea agreement, Ward pled to three Class A felony counts of child molestation while a fourth child molesting charge was dropped. He was originally scheduled for trial later this month.

In April 2011, Ward was arrested by Washington police on a preliminary sexual misconduct with a 13-year-old girl in a Washington home.

According to police reports, the girl had been staying at a family member's home where Ward was living due to being kicked out of his own home. She told officers the two had talked on Facebook and Ward had asked to have sex and she refused. Both knew the other's ages, according to reports.

Then on the evening of April 6, 2011, Ward entered the girl's bedroom and forced himself on her. A family member caught Ward after the act and sent the girl to another bedroom and told Ward to leave the home.

The girl told police although she did say no to Ward, she did not fight back or call for help because she felt threatened.

Ward left the house at 2 a.m. the morning of the incident and went to stay with his grandparents. Later that morning the girl and her mother went to Daviess Community Hospital where officers were called about the possible rape. She was then sent to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis for an examination.

Ward was later interviewed by police and admitted he had sex with the girl.

Ward is facing 20 years in the case, according to Indiana sentence guidelines. As part of the plea agreement, the sentences for all three charges are to run concurrently.

Sentencing has been tentatively scheduled for July 8. He is being represented by Megan Horton of Norris Law Offices in Washington.
