Last updated on Friday, May 3, 2013

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was cited by police after he crashed his truck into the Owl’s Nest Thursday night and then left the scene.

According to a Bedford Police report, 53-year-old Gordon Stewart was at the Owl's Nest (Kindred Spirits) when he backed his 1996 Ford F150 up to the building and then became distracted by a passing semi and hit the building with a ladder that was sticking out of the back and top of his vehicle.

Stewart told police he knew he "bumped" the building but didn't think he had damaged the building so he left.

Police were notified of the accident after a witness saw it happen and saw Stewart leave.

Stewart was found by police in the 300 block of M Street and issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.

Police say the accident caused damage to a door and the door frame and estimates damage at under $1,000.
